ABOUT THIS EPISODE

John Palfrey: co-author of Born Digital which discusses how children are affected by our interconnected world and all its opportunities and options.

Children are spending more time on computer, smartphone, and video devices than ever before. How should parents monitor the technology and their kids’ behaviors? These questions, along with others, are covered in Professor Palfrey’s book, “Born Digital”. In 2008, Dave talked with Palfrey about the book and his research on kids who are immersed in technology starting at a young age. At a time where MySpace and Facebook were the main platforms compared to today with everything from streaming to more social media, Hearsay Culture asked the questions that mattered. So how can technology affect kids’ development and can the law deal with these concerns? Tune in to find out.

“You need to be understanding the environments in which your kid is acting in” – Prof. Palfrey

“It’s not that we use technology, we live technology” – Godfrey Reggio
